Building a new Florida university in the Prairie style of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Suffolk's university contractors teamed with Kraft Construction to provide preconstruction and construction services for the new Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida, the first Catholic University founded in the United States in 40 years. The Florida university covers 750 acres and included the construction of the entire infrastructure, as well as the construction of the Central Plant, Library, Multipurpose Facility, Student Activities Center, Science/Math/Technology building, three Residence Halls and a K-12 school. It was the intent of the University to construct all buildings reflecting the Frank Lloyd Wright prairie-style architecture. The exterior materials consist of tilt-wall construction. The glazing systems are aluminum frame with hurricane-resistant glass. The roof is standing-seam copper with a copper edge and eave, and cement soffit system, that in most cases, extends anywhere from five to 15 feet from the exterior face of the building. The project was built by Suffolk’s university construction contractors in Florida.
