Innovation and sustainability are hallmarks of this Resource Center.
The Los Angeles Trade Tech College Learning Resource Center project consisted of the renovation of 87,000 square feet and the addition of 13,000 square feet. Extensive demolition of the existing Learning Resource Center was required followed by the construction of a new façade, roofing, interiors, mechanical and electrical utilities.
Specific improvements included an innovative carbon fiber seismic wall wrap upgrade (Fibrwrap), gel-injected subterranean waterproofing of the basement concrete structure, a complete metal exterior wall panel façade with aluminum eyebrow entrance canopies and integral perforated sign lettering, and a wall-length electronic display message board.
The project was built to achieve LEED® Silver certification and includes a variety of complex sustainable elements such as a rooftop 350 KVW Photo Voltaic System and a 95 percent construction/demolition waste diversion. The project was built by Suffolk’s education contractors in Los Angeles, CA.
