Suffolk Construction Awarded Miami Dade College Classroom/Student Union Facility Project

Leading construction management firm will construct $25 million facility consisting of 110,000 square feet of new academic and support space

MIAMI, FL, April 5, 2010—Suffolk Construction Company, Inc., recently announced it was awarded the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Classroom/Student Union facility project. The new $25 million Classroom/Student Union facility will provide an additional 110,000 gross square feet of new academic and support space to the institution’s Wolfson Campus. The SIX-story facility will include classrooms, FILM archival library, wellness center, student union/student life center, and a food court and general eating area.

The Suffolk project team will provide a comprehensive logistics plan that will help limit disruption to the campus and the city’s ongoing activities and transportation system. The

Miami Dade College campus is located in a congested, urban area with heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns, and the east property line is bordered by the Metro Mover. The complicated building construction project will be an opportunity for Suffolk to begin building a strong relationship with Miami Dade College, and strengthen its design-build relationship with Zyscovich, the architect on the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in December of 2010 and will be completed in December 2011.
