SARASOTA, FL, March 29, 2010 – Suffolk Construction, today announced that the Sarasota, Fla., firm has been awarded a $19.2 million contract to design and construct a fitness center at Camp Lejeune, a U.S. Marine Corps base in North Carolina. Suffolk partnered with Zyscovich Architects, TLC Engineering and Kimley Horn and Associates on this design/build LEED® Platinum facility.
The facility will feature:
• Indoor track and swimming pool
• Gymnasium with basketball, volleyball and racquet ball courts
• Weight training and cardiovascular fitness areas
• Fitness assessment room
• Men, women and family locker rooms
• Laundry facility
• Vending area
• Private staff offices
• Destructive weather shelter for extreme wind events
Construction is expected to be completed by Spring 2012.
