Suffolk Construction Awarded $14.9M U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Contract

Firm to construct intermediate school at Fort Bragg

SARASOTA, FLORIDA, August 26, 2010 – Suffolk Construction, today announced that the Sarasota, Fla., firm has been awarded a $14.9 million contract to construct the Irwin Intermediate School at Fort Bragg, a major U.S. Army installation in North Carolina. This is the firm’s first contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Savannah District.

The facility will serve 725 students in grades 5 and 6 and will feature:

-          General-purpose classrooms

-          Advanced communications systems

-          Computer labs

-          Art and music classrooms

-           Gymnasium

-           Multipurpose room with stage and kitchen

-           Administrative offices and teacher workrooms

-           Supply and storage rooms

-           Information center

-           Playground

-           Sport facilities

The firm will pursue a LEED silver certification, an internationally recognized green building designation from the U.S. Green Building Council. Construction is expected to be completed by Fall 2011.
